Windows 7 issue running under Linux KVM
Tags: Windows LInux
I recently ran into a problem where all my Windows 7 vm's running under Linux KVM would start and then crash before the Windows login screen. All the other vm's (Windows 2008-2003, Windows XP, various flavors of Linux did not have an issue. I keep up to date on all patches on the host and the vm's so I figured it had to be something that was updated. I am still not sure which side of the equation is to blame but suffice to say, after much trial and error, I found by disabling the Windows "Power" service in Safe Mode I was able to boot the Windows 7 vm's.
Very descriptive name right? The description is "Manages power policy and power policy notification delivery.". Since I am not concerned about power policy on test vm's disabling it should not be an issue for me. Your mileage may vary
